A note from Msgr. Paul
It has been my pleasure and joy to minister to this wonderful community of faith, fellowship, and devotion in our Lord Jesus Christ. St. Lawrence Martyr has a rich history in Redondo Beach and I am continually impressed by the people who have made this a true community.
Over the last several years we have seen tremendous growth in the South Bay and in our parish. With this wonderful growth, our current physical campus requires some improvements to better serve our parishioners, school, and community. Accordingly, just as our predecessors faithfully faced the challenges of their time and sought out to plan ahead for the future needs of the next generations of Catholics in Redondo Beach, we are now called forth by the Holy Spirit to do the same.
Over the last few years, after meeting with the parish finance council, pastoral advisory committee, school leadership, and much prayer, we have created a plan to address the needs of our parish community. This diverse plan will improve our facilities to accommodate the incredible growth of our ministries and development of our school.
I am grateful for your past generosity and deep commitment to St. Lawrence Martyr. Accordingly, I ask you to prayerfully consider a gift of at least $100 per month over a pledge period of sixty months, for a total gift of $6,000 to the Honoring The Past – Building For The Future Campaign. Your gift will be a witness and example to others whom we will be inviting to join us in the Campaign. A volunteer will be calling you during the next few weeks to answer your questions and invite you to join with us in making this campaign a success. Please give my request your most prayerful and sacrificial consideration.
I invite you to take a step of faith together with me in support of this plan to transform our community. Together, we can build a place where the glory of God will continue to be made manifest.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Msgr. Paul T. Dotson
A five-point comprehensive plan has been established to address the immediate needs for our
community today and lay a foundation for those who will follow us. These five components
1) Improving the environment of our church sanctuary.
2) Conversion of the convent to the “Monsignor Michael Lenihan Administration Building.- COMPLETED 11/2013
3) Assist our parish school as they look to remodel the classrooms.
4) Return the rectory to its intended use as a residence for priests and the addition of a guest
apartment - in final stages 3/2015
5) Providing financial assistance to our sister parish, Sagrado Corazon in Cudahy, to help them
complete their dream of a new church.
The overall goal for this plan is $4 million dollars. Already, volunteers from the parish have been
speaking to fellow parishioners regarding the campaign.
